According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, President Buhari stated this in Abuja while receiving former Vice President Namadi Sambo, who heads ECOWAS Election Mission to the West African country. Northern Groups' Security Summit Disrupted by Thugs in Kaduna

Thugs wielding dangerous weapons invaded the Arewa House Kaduna on Monday, where they ran after officials of the Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, who were there for a security summit.  Abdulaziz Suleiman, spokesman of the CNG, in a statement, explained that even security guards had to run for their lives. 26 Army Generals Positive for COVID-19, While 417 Personnel Take COVID-19 Test.

  Late Irefin, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, fell ill last week while attending the 2020 Chief of Army Staff Conference in Abuja. He was later taken to a military hospital where he died of respiratory failure secondary to the complications of COVID-19 infection. General Irefin was said to have visited some of his colleagues before the conference, and  Channels Television  gathered that 26 generals tested positive. T he acting Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sagir Musa, also confirmed that a total of 417 personnel have been tested with 26 confirmed positive cases as of Sunday, although he did not disclose the ranks of the infected persons. According to him, all those who attended the conference are in self-isolation irrespective of their results. Sanwo-Olu Tests Positive for COVID-19

  Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has tested positive for COVID-19, the state’s Commissioner for Health announced on Saturday. Akin Abayomi said the Governor is currently experiencing “mild symptoms and fatigue typical of a mild case of COVID.” In a statement, he added that Sanwo-Olu is receiving treatment and is being closely monitored at home by a clinical team from the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba. “Mr. Sanwo-Olu is doing well on treatment and rest and we are confident that he will recover quickly and clear the virus,” the statement said.

  A coalition of Niger Delta militants, under the aegis of the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA), has sent a protest letter to President Muhammadu Buhari over the alleged plan by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, to appoint his brother as the Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The RNDA said though Akpabio had the power to oversee the NDDC, his recent actions and lobby to approve the reappointment of the current Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Mr Akwa Okon, as the sole administrator to oversee the commission was provocative and could trigger a new round of violence in the creeks of the region. School Attack: No One Knows The Exact Number of Students Kidnapped Yet, Says Governor Masari

  Gunmen had stormed Government Science Secondary School in Ƙanƙara Local Government Area of the state on Friday night, causing students, teachers, and staff members to flee for their lives. The staff said there were 884 students in the school at the time of the attack. Speaking with reporters on Saturday, the Governor said 426 students have been counted as safe.

Nigeria Should Be Investigated for War Crimes - ICC Prosecutor

  Fatou Bensouda’s announcement comes as violence continues to wreak havoc in the northeast, where at least 76 people were slaughtered by Boko Haram jihadists two weeks ago. “Following a thorough process, I can announce today that the statutory criteria for opening an investigation into the situation in Nigeria have been met,” Bensouda said in a statement, issued at the ICC’s headquarters in The Hague. ICC prosecutors opened a preliminary investigation into the situation in Nigeria in 2010 but Bensouda now wants permission from judges to proceed to a full-blown formal probe. Gambian-born Bensouda specifically referred to acts committed by Boko Haram, whose 11-year insurgency in the country have claimed the lives of at least 36,000 people. Buhari Condemns Katsina School Attack

    President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday condemned the bandits’ attack on a secondary school in Katsina. About 54 students are said to have been abducted after gunmen attacked the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara in Katsina State late Friday.
